– This is from Women’s Health Magazine and their tips for women in their 20s, though I’m sure the science applies to men and to other ages.
Why am I posting this? Let’s just say I will be looking for all the ground flaxseed I can find next time I’m at the grocery store.
Thank Obama for Repealing Bush Anti-Choice Rule →
Well, that was quick! Obama will be repealing Bush’s last-minute anti-choice “conscience” rule.

Lost Recap: 316 | The Ack Attack! →
Turn that Monday frown upside down with LOST funnies!
Oops...
In my current state of scatter-brainedness, I seem to have confused everyone over at JotB and made them think that I’m not blogging on there anymore.
Hmm… wonder if that’s why my feedburner count dropped a bit…
For the sake of clarity, just reiterating here as I’ve done on JotB that I’ll keep writing about feminism, politics, activism, etc. on there but will...
Oscar Night
Every year, my sister and I pick our predictions for every Oscar category and get a small bet going. My guy joined in on the fun last year, and this year it should be great times again.
Here are my picks for a few of the categories (some are who I think will win, some who I just really want to win):
Leading Actor: Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler)
Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight)

War Is Over
Just went past the War Is Over billboard in Times Square and smiled. I’m going to walk down here some time on Monday to take a picture. I have a feeling it’ll give me some energy to have a picture from “real” life when I need it.
War is over, if you want it.
There’s hope yet.

Eloriane from Gender Goggles has made a list of 101 goals to complete in 1001 days, and I’m totally copying this and doing it for myself. I’ll probably blog about it at some point…

More Allied Media Awesomeness
brownfemipower:
via the brand spanking new Allied Media Blog!
“Now this is what a ‘conference’ is supposed to look like: 800 concerned citizens and activists, most of them young and denim-clad, many of them people of color, queer, or both, gathered in Detroit on a crisp June day to create and critique media. There are no tote bags, no swag, no cocktail parties. Just tables full of radical...
Investing in the Allied Media Conference
brownfemipower:
So I know all my lovely readers know everything there is to know about the Allied Media Conference–right?
About how it is held in Detroit, Michigan every year in July, and about how the organizers are committed community based activists and bleed media justice? About how every year, the AMC sets new goals based on feedback from participants, and actually follows through on those...
Mexicans Set Kissing Record On Valentine’s Day To... →
The event was organized not only to provide a fun way to demonstrate both affection and a healthy dose of patriotic competition, but also as an attempt to alter public perception of Mexico City, which is often associated with poverty and drug-related crime.
I’m not entirely sure what one has to do with the other, but this is hilarious…
saying what you mean & meaning what you say
I’ve been wondering lately if I’ve inherited my mother’s tendency to be completely misunderstood.
She always says that when she thinks she’s being clear and communicating herself well, nobody understands what she’s talking about and they misconstrue what she’s saying.
Lately I’ve been wondering if this is the case for me too, because so often I think...

Please go talk with us, because we’re super cool, though not quite as awesome as the Beatles.

Considering how long it took me to get (some of) my thoughts down on digital paper, it’s interesting to start reading that others are having similar thoughts and feelings.

This is such a great compilation of work about and/or by WOC. It’s refreshing to see us starting to elbow our way into the blogosphere.
to be or not to be... a feminist →
I started working on this post a few days ago and finally posted it… I don’t think it’s particularly coherent or fully-developed, but at least you can see how convoluted this all gets in my head.
A dream you dream alone is only a dream; a dream you dream together is reality.

random thought
I have a tendency to look at patterns and find things that aren’t there. Not in a weird “omg look at that potato chip w/Jesus’ face on it” way. Just seeing images within images or funky things like that.
I used to think it was kinda cool, although it would be annoying sometimes b/c the “ability” had a mind of its own.
Then I read The Yellow Wallpaper and ever...
the future of WST? →
News like this makes me think I will not be going down the WST PhD path I often envisioned myself taking.
Guess this means I have to go stay at the drawing board a while longer.
here we go
In trying to be a healthier, more responsible, ever-evolving woman, I need a place to touch down every once in a while and take a look at the process. My thoughts, progress, feelings, frustrations, all that junk. So here we go…
