this moment is usually remembered for the “george bush doesn’t care about black people” statement. but before he said that, kanye also said a lot of important stuff about how the media portrayed white and black survivors and how our government responds to crises affecting people of color. katrina response and recovery has and will continue to be significantly affected by race.
