Why I Like Cara, the beginnings of a list

I like Cara a lot.  I like reading her posts on Feministe & The Curvature.

This year, I learned so much about Yoko Ono, and I learned it all because Cara is awesome and interesting and invested and writes exciting posts about how cool Yoko Ono is!

Whenever I read a post about anything written by Cara, I know there will be smart and interesting commentary, and that she’ll provide insight I might not have on my own.

Cara is my anti-unhappy-with-the-internet.  Even when she’s reporting on stuff that makes me hate the world and everyone in it, I find Cara’s posts to be good reads.

Also, I bet Cara smells like freesia.

I like Cara a lot too.

Sometimes, I am really riled up about something, and I think to myself, ‘I should write an Internet blog post about this,’ and I stomp around the house for a while being mad, and then I go to the computer and see that Cara’s written a post about it already, and it’s so perfect and exactly what I wanted to say. And it makes me happy.

She also has a cool cat, which makes me really happy, because excellent people deserve cool cats.

Furthermore, I get excited whenever I see Cara’s byline pop up in my Google Reader, because I know that I am about to read something awesome. I don’t even mind when the people I follow share the same thing six times, which I usually do mind.

Also, I have a sneaking suspicion that she does not actually fart, despite rumours to the contrary.

Cara is one of the more persistently reasonable people ever born, and while I am busy beaming death glares at all who are so unfortunate as to cross my path over some perceived Issue, Cara has already got perspective and insight and at least 500 words on the matter.

Cara is really nice to people. She was really nice to me, for example! Once when I was having a very bad day!

Cara is always in touch with her principles, and very smart about them, and I get the feeling they are not just principles she espouses for the sheer giddy fun of it, but things she works on, mulls over, and lives. Cara does not separate rhetoric from practice, is what I am saying.

Furthermore, Cara shot a man in Reno just to watch him die. But I didn’t like that dude, so we’re cool!

Hahahaha, aw! What on earth did I do to deserve all this??? In any case, thank you all. You have completely made my day. :)

Aww, I missed all the fun! Cara inspired me to start my own blog. I wanted to be even a fraction of the awesomeness that is Cara. I hope I am living up to the hype.

Cara makes me want to be a better blogger, and a better person. And I bet that if she does fart, it does smell like freesia, or plumeria.

ooh ooh! I wanna play!

I love Cara! She is the first person I ever met who loved the Beatles as much as I do and knew way more about them than I do. Which is basically the awesomest thing EVAAAAH! And I also learned a lot about Yoko and have a greater appreciation for her and her work.

Cara’s blogging is great, of course. Comes from a very honest place, well-written, not afraid to talk about the hard stuff, but also not afraid to be fun! (Feminists have fun sometimes, did you know?!) Her Top Ten/Five Beatles posts are my faves (*ahem*), but I love pretty much all of it.

Getting to hang out with her at WAM! was pretty awesome too because our dorkiness was well-matched.

Oh, and she’s the reason I joined tumblr so there’s that too. =)

Happy Xmas Eve!
