the statue had four toes because it was a statue of anubis, a dog-god who naturally would have canine like toes! yes, it took me an hour to figure that out. also, this is kind of a letdown, as i was sort of hoping there was gonna be some weird backstory about like, mutant humans on the island… or something.NOW the mystery i want answered most (along with “what the fuck is the deal with richard alpert?” like, seriously, when are we getting his flashbacks? please? no? fine) is “why was this island apparently colonized by ancient egyptians”?
also: “can i ask you a question?” “i’m a pisces.” hee! i kind of love snarky ben.
The fandom seems to be convinced that the statue is actually Taweret. I think it was used in an ABC episode recap and people went with it because she’s the goddess of birth.
Oh, and I remember reading that this season is going to have more Alpert. Hopefully that’s true because he’s my fave.
