I figured I may as well link this whole article, which is just generally awesome, both entertaining (seriously entertaining) and educational - check out the “yeah, turns out when a music movement is dominated by people of color, non-straight people, and ladies, white straight rock dudes react in unusually angry ways” bit on page 4. but also check out the general hilarity and awesomeness, also the pictures (including one of liza minnelli dancing with mikhail barishnikov). i also really recommend heading to the youtube and putting on the songs mentioned as a soundtrack for the article (or you could just go through the zillion disco videos i just posted here after they brought me such joy).
